2/2/06 The original radar was a wimp and cold not pick up the fishing boats.  I therefore decided to go with the Garmin 4KW radar which interfaces with the Garmin network and displays.  The section of the duct area where the mount sits on was becoming delaminated under the duct and I had to fix it at the same time I was mounting the mount.  I suspect the heat from the tail pipe was causing the delamination of the foam/FG in that area.  However, the repair and the mount really makes the whole duct area stiff now.   The first two pictures are of the bare radar mount.

Pictures 2, 3, 4 & 5 show how the radar mount is fastened to the hull.  The spacers keep the bottom of the radar mount and the backing plate which is under the duct surface from crushing the foam/FG as the mounting screws are tightened up.  The spacers allow a 1/16" compression and the plates spread out the load over the duct surface.  The finished result was better than I had hoped for.  It is a very strong mount.

3/28/06.  I used the radar for the first time at Lake Somerville this last weekend.  There was a bass fishing contest and fishing boats were everywhere.  The radar worked great and picked them all up!!!
