| 3/25 - 3/26 Overlook Park on Lake Somerville Hover-in. As
the Nails Creek Park on Lake Somerville no longer allows overnight
camping, the hover-in was held at the Overlook Park on the other end of
the lake. It was a great place to go as they had fuel, eats,
camping, cabins and a nice marina and boat ramp. While we had
hoped for five hovercraft to show up, only two made it but we had a lot
of fun. Saturday was the best day we have had on Lake Somerville
with the water calm and the winds very low. There were the usual
small repairs from time to time but the crafts seemed to behave
themselves. Since this was the first time I had the Canair out
since the new exhaust was put in, the craft smoked a lot until the heat
wrap settled in and the stopped smoking. It took about 20 min of
cruising for the smoke/smell to stop. When we launched, there were
a couple of Parks and Wildlife wardens watching and I think the smoke
gave them some pause. They were pretty friendly folks however.
Sunday the wind came up and was about 30+ MPH so we called it quits
early as the water was choppy and the high wind made it less safe.
Overall, a great time was had!! Below are some of the pictures
from the hoverin.
