I will use a push/pull tube from a boat to control the rudders and trim wing like shown in the pictures.  Thanks Eric Szatkowski for the detailed design!
I will use female rod end bearings instead of welding a nut to the 1/4 tube.  Wicks aircraft supply has 5/16-24 rod ends for $5.75 which eliminates the need to weld.  They are part number MW-5.  They also carry the A930 series of push/pull rods for controls.  These come in all lengths and are teflon lined for about $35.  However a boat push/pull cable is what many use.
